Audi TT- Features of the budget-friendly sports car

by Editor News

The Audi TT RS was released during the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. In the beginning, it was available for the people of the United Kingdom. Later on, the company released it in India by the end of 2017. It became the first model to get the Matrix OLED headlamps in the Audi series. This vehicle is a luxury sports car, which is not-so-high on price. Audi TT became an iconic coupe within a very short time-span owing to its chick look and powerful TFSI dual injection engine.

The new Audi TT has more aggressive with sharp edges for its Matrix OLED headlamps offering better illumination. The headlamps also have the ability to detect traffic movements from a long range. When you switch them to low beam, they serve as active cornering lamps.

The large hexagonal grille comes in matte black finish and the car has two massive air intakes below the headlamps. This sports car has a sloping roof with two doors making a statement of its own. The tail lamps are also angular and glow from end to end on applying brakes. You also get the TT logo in the rear ends along with a spoiler imparting sporty flair to the car.

Audi TT comes with dark brown leather upholstery offering a luxurious as well as a sporty look at the same time. With leather wrapping on the steering wheel and gear shift knob, the car has a black dashboard with brushed aluminium inserts.

The stylish propeller-shaped AC vents come with all the necessary controls mounted in them. The dash comes with a TFT screen serving as a virtual cockpit with all the instrument clusters.

In the front, you get bucket seats, and though there is a second row of seat in the rear end, there is very less leg and headroom available. The boot space with 280 Litres is also small compared to other cars in the series.

Audi TT is equipped with a 2.0-Litre turbocharged engine having direct fuel injection and indirect inter cooling. This engine churns out a maximum power of 227 bhp@4500-6200 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm@1600-4300 rpm. Though TT engine does not matches the power of other premium sports car, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system suffices for the deficiency. It has good acceleration and can reach 100kmph in 5.3 seconds. The engine remains mated out to a six-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox which works pretty well for the car.

Price and Competition

The price of Audi TT is INR 65.43 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). Its primary rivals are the BMW Z4 and the Porsche Cayman.

 Pros of Audi TT

  • The car has an impressive exterior like the sharp headlamps, flared fenders, and gently-sloped rear window.

  • Audi TT has a good engine and the Quattro AWD system can take a car from 0-100kmph in just 5.3 seconds.

  • The car offers excellent control and a comfortable ride due to the presence of the Magnetic Sports Suspension.

 Cons of Audi TT

  • The lack of room in the rear seats is a major problem as the car becomes basically a two-seater.

  • The boot space of merely 280 Litres is insufficient for the luggage.
