Tata Motors on Friday disclosed its partnership with Indian Oil for an initiative known as ‘Saarthi Aaram Kendra.’ This initiative has been taken in interest for commercial vehicle drivers along highways. Drivers will be provided with pit stops in highways to take rest, thereby taking care of their physical and mental health, the company said in a release.
The first Saarthi Aaram Kendra was inaugurated on Friday at Bawal on the National Highway-8 near Rewari in Haryana. The two partners have planned to set up more such 'Kendras' on high-traffic national highways.
Girish Wagh, the head of the Commercial vehicle business division, Tata Motors said that Saarthi Aaram Kendra is an initiative that offers basic facilities on the go to the commercial vehicle drivers. It offers an environment wherein drivers will have easy access to their basic needs, which, in turn, will help them de-stress after long journeys and thereby improve their efficiency.
Both the brands have previously come together for various business tie-ups and this new partnership on driver welfare activity aims to further improve their goodwill towards the driver community.
The facility has been designed in such a way that the drivers have all the facilities that include restrooms, restaurant, secured parking with CCTV camera, launderette, self-cooking, open bathing facility, clean drinking water facility, barber shop, TV and Wi-Fi. Drivers can also avail truck related services and solutions from the vehicle service workshop available within the facility.
Vigyan Kumar, executive director of Indian Oil said that the brand has always focused on taking various initiatives for drivers at its highway retail outlets. The ‘Aaram Kendra’ is another such initiative that has been carried out to fulfil the daily needs of commercial vehicle drivers and increase their efficiency.
The initiative from the brand is related to another drivers’ welfare program, Tata Motors Samarth, which covers accidental insurance, hospitalisation cover, financial counselling and educational assistance packages for the drivers as well as their children.
